Getting Around Baku
City GuideBaku, narrow streets of the Old City, historic buildings, and modern skyscrapers blend to create a unique urban landscape where tradition meets innovation. The city invites visitors to explore on foot, offering a perfect mix of culture, architecture, and local crafts. Walking is perhaps the best way to experience the capital, often referred to as the “Land of Fire,” located at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia.
From UFAZ, you can easily access the Old City (Icheri Sheher), a historic district dating back to the 12th century. Don’t miss the Maiden Tower, an iconic landmark and UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Absheron Peninsula and the city skyline. Cultural exploration continues at some of Baku’s most emblematic institutions, including:
- National Museum of History of Azerbaijan (Milli Azərbaycan Tarixi Muzeyi)
- Azerbaijan National Museum of Art (Azərbaycan Milli İncəsənət Muzeyi)
- Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum (Azərbaycan Milli Xalça Muzeyi)
- Baku Museum of Modern Art (Bakı Müasir İncəsənət Muzeyi)
Your journey can be rounded off with a visit to the Heydar Aliyev Center, a masterpiece of contemporary architecture symbolizing Azerbaijan’s forward-looking spirit.
